if the boot fits…
Last night my friend Simone and I went to this ‘event’ called Dating Boot Camp. (Read her post here)
It’s a 4-week thing, which is to teach women how to understand, decode, and “manage” a man. Insert my laughter and head-shaking right now. Now I have never read any of ‘those’ relationship books out there, and I really never have an interest in doing so, but being at this event I guess is kind of like listening to a book on tape, with a whole lot of mess in between.
I spent most of my late night and early morning thinking about what to write about ‘boot camp’, and I’m sure over the next 4 weeks (it’s a 4 week event) I’ll write plenty about the different things that it brings to mind.
There were so many laughable moments, so many things I questioned, and the odd scary ladies asking scary questions. But as I was walking to my office this afternoon it came to me. One bullet point from their presentation was as follows: (please note I’m paraphrasing because I didn’t take notes)
~All men, no matter what their age or relationship status play the,“would I sleep with, or wouldn’t sleep with,” with each woman they see.ALWAYS. ~
One of the main things that bother me about comments or so called “facts” like these is how they label guys in this manner. I mean I’m one of the first people to say “all guys are douchbags” but come on this fact bothers me. We ALL play this game. You can pretend you don’t, but I won’t pretend that. When I catch a guy looking at me who is obliviously playing the would/wouldn’t game. I play it right back! So today while out, walking around the city for about a total of 2.5 hrs. I kept track:
Number of guy’s obviously deciding if they would/wouldn’t sleep with me: 39
Number of these guys who smiled after we made eye contact: 33
Number of these guys who I “would”: 9
Number of guys I “would” who I don’t think noticed me: 4
FACT: Dating Boot Camp is not like real Boot Camp! I gained 1 pound yesterday.
