…more like dumb
So I need to talk about something that has been driving me crazy for months. Something I’ve been seeing time and time again when I watch mindless TV and it just makes me want to cock punch someone while screaming “Allez Cuisine!”
I’ve talked about commercials before. I’m bothered by a commercial that deal with “female issues”, I just am. I’ve talked before on how I don’t like the women in most of them, and then I talked about how some point out how stupid the female population is. But this one takes the cake on pointing out how stupid/dumb/ridiculous the female population can be.
Bayer has come out with a new ad champagne that encourages women to learn more about their birth control. This comes off the back of them being sued millions of dollars for apparently not adequately informing women about the health risks.
Ok first off, if you take any medications you should know what it is, how it works, how it affects your body and interacts with other drugs you take. Your health should always be number one. You need to understand how stuff works. That’s “Living 101.”
Anyways, so although I agree that it’s good of Bayer to let you know that you should take control of your health I have an issue with their commercials. A huge issue.
If you haven’t seen the commercial in question let me break it down for you. There are these women who are blind folded feeling a rhinoceros. They touch the rhino all over and are trying to figure out what they are touching.
These women give the absolute dumbest answers that one could ever say while feeling up a living breathing moving rhino! Answers given include: a wall, a rope, a pipe, and my all time favorite is the stupid chick who get’s ear slapped in the hand by a rhino and guesses… A BRUSH!
WTF?! Where are all these stupid women coming from! At least I’m glad someone is trying to make sure they all know how to use birth control correctly, cause God forbid these dumb ass chicks get pregnant and start procreating…..that is if they can read the pregnancy test.

They have been showing that commercial like crazy here and it drives me nuts.
Ah, don’t get mad at the actresses, get mad at the creatives…wait, no – not them, but the culture at large? And even then, getting mad doesn’t help much. I took a peek at pharma copywriting -it’s worse than a bucket with snakes, one can get sick just by looking at it. Seriously. Not even to mention the fact that birth control pills DO mess up with the hormonal levels and then years later, poor women wonder where in the heck their health went. I know my opinion may go against the grain but I remember how my ex’s med school professor (an old school dude, back in the Old World so less legal pressure) was telling his students: “If you are serious with your GF and think about marrying her, don’t ever let her take birth control, it’s really not good for the body!”) Okay I know I hijacked your subject, sorry. :)
Could be worse…you could be watching commercials for the “shake weight”.

Lena — I’m not mad at all! Hijack all you want. I am totally with you on that. Birth control is terrible for you body, it is one of the worst things you can put in your mouth. They mess you up big time! I know this for sure. But the commercial still drives nails in my eye balls when I see it. And they portray women to just be dumb.

I’ve seen this one. I agree it’s pretty stupid, but not as annoying as the one with the ladies doing synchronized swimming that’s all “break out of your birth control routine!” I hate that one!
They are likely referring to the old parable of two blind men touching an elephant. One is touching the body and describing a wall, the other the tail and describing a rope. It’s often used in reference to two people discussing the same subject differently or having different opinions of the same subject but blind to the bigger picture.
Yes, getting flicked in the hand by a rhino’s ear would immediately make *me* think of brush! To think I used to think it’d be cool to be the one to create commercials…now I’d be hanging my head in shame at the dross I’d be forced to vomit out.
I also hate the commercial. It annoys me. Are people that STUPID? no, but man o man, I know what I’d say if I’d get brush with a Rhino’s ear–but this is a PG-13 blog, right? okay, I’ll keep quiet!
